Iceball. Baseskate.

You don’t need a freak, snowless January to take to Brooklyn’s fields with America’s past time. Brooklyn blog A Year in the Park dug up a story about baseball on ice skates, played on the frozen lakes in Prospect Park.

There’s no indication that anyone intends to take up the game again. The story also mentions that the lakes were used for “ice-boating,” whatever that is.

Tetherball returns

Recent Brooklyn transplants might never know it had gone, or what it is (it’s a game with a ball tethered to a pole.  Think Napoleon Dynamite).  For Gersh Kuntzman, editor at The Brooklyn Paper and tetherball diehard-in-chief, the return of “the world’s greatest game” couldn’t come soon enough.
